Steve McQueen clearly isn’t afraid to take risks when it comes to making movies as proven by his 2011 film Shame. 12 Years a Slave promises to make the uglier side of humanity as witnessed in one of the most tragic periods in history just as “in your face”. With a cadre of accomplished actors, chiefly among them Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, McQueen’s period drama set during slavery, is gunning for Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy nominations.
