DreamWorks, EA Nearing Deal on Need For Speed Movie

I love the Need For Speed video games, despite the fact that I can’t drive to save my life and can’t make those turns so the cops always get me. I don’t know how I feel about it being turned into a movie, but nevertheless, DreamWorks and EA are getting closer to making a deal on a Need for Speed movie.

The Fast and the Furious series has been raking in a bunch of green for Universal Studios and Dreamworks has just sat by and watched the money pile up – until now. Rumor suggests that Dreamworks studio plans on turning the Need for Speed video game into a motion picture.

According to Deadline.com, Dreamworks is close to completing a deal with Electronic Arts for a need for Speed movie with screenwriter John Gatins with a script written by his brother George Gatins.
The movie is expect to hit theaters in 2014.

The only problem with that is The Fast and the Furious are really kitschy and they try too hard. If they do go in that direction, it would just be like a FF offshoot, which would suck even more. What do you think?
