ICYMI: When the Bough Breaks Trailer Starring Morris Chestnut

If you are wondering if When the Bough Breaks is one of those Fatal Attraction movies but with babies involved, you would be correct.  This one looks pretty good, though.  There’s one difference that I don’t recall from previous movies in that subgenre and that is the female antagonist is not antagonizing alone.  When the Bough Breaks is about a couple (Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall) who desperately want to have a baby.  They opt to go with a surrogate (newcomer Jaz Sinclair) and her partner (Theo Rossi).  Unfortunately, the two of them are criminals, with the surrogate falling obsessively in love and lust with Chestnut’s character.  All hell breaks loose with cops being called, abuse charges being hurled, etc.  It’s all good fun.  How did I miss the trailer last month?

Synopsis:

John and Laura Taylor (Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall) are a young, professional couple who desperately want a baby.  After exhausting all other options, they finally hire Anna (Jaz Sinclair), the perfect woman to be their surrogate – but as she gets further along in her pregnancy, so too does her psychotic and dangerous fixation on the husband. The couple becomes caught up in Anna’s deadly game and must fight to regain control of their future before it’s too late.

Jon Cassar (Wicked City, 24) directs with a script written by Jack Olsen.  When the Bough Breaks also stars Romany Malco and Michael K. Williams.  Chestnut is also an executive producer on the film.  Look for it in theaters September 9, 2016.
