You know, I’ve never been much interested in Jessica Jones, but Netflix and Marvel sure do come together to make a beautiful product. I must say that the first official trailer is impressive. It’s dark, gritty, and Krysten Ritter looks like she was the perfect pick for the job. I’m all for it.
In the trailer, Jones is a sarcastic, tough private investigator who has a lot of secrets and a lot of regrets. We see part of her relationship with another Marvel superhero Luke Cage (Mike Colter) start to form, but we also get a glimpse of her past and Kilgrave (David Tennant) the man behind some of the awful things she’s done. Kilgrave is able to manipulate people with as little as an utterance, and the consequences for anyone on the receiving end are most often disastrous or tragic. Kilgrave, however, is not done with Jones no matter how hard she tries to forget, and it will lead to an epic showdown.
Now, we’re accustomed to Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin in Netflix’s other original series Daredevil (starring Charlie Cox aka Crouching Tiger Hidden Bae), and he was one hell of a psychopath. Can Tennant leave just as much of a lasting impression? Watch the trailer and see if you think he can (or can’t as it were):
After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases in New York City.
Welp, November 20th is definitely going to mean a whole lot of “Netflix and chill” in my house…
