This is Neill Blomkamp’s next film and just the few pictures I’ve seen and reading the synopsis, I am really looking forward to Elysium. Elysium stars Matt Damon, Sharlto Copley, William Fichtner, Jodie Foster, Alice Braga, Diego Luna and Wagner Moura, and opens March 1, 2013. Sony will be bringing Blomkamp’s film to Comin-Con next week and rumor has it that there will be some sort of footage shown. I mean it is SDCC, this is where studios go to premiere footage of their films. I for am going to do my best to make this panel and see this footage. I liked District 9 even though I had some questions but still really liked it. I am very curious about the body piece he is wearing and what it is for.
Plot Synopsis: In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line the government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
Anyone else wondering if this film is ripped from America’s headlines today about all the immigration hoopla with a scifi spin? I can’t wait for the first official trailer to hit the web.
