Rambo’s coming back! But this time he’ll have to settle for FOX. Deadline reports that FOX is cooking up a new TV series called Rambo: New Blood which will focus on the dynamic between Rambo and his son, J.R., an ex-Navy SEAL. Sylvester Stallone hasn’t been officially confirmed to act in the project, but he is signed on as the executive producer. They’re probably negotiating behind closed doors. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say he’ll be involved, and I don’t mean behind the scenes. He’s clearly still got the acting chops so I’d be surprised if he didn’t return as Rambo. He just did an amazing job reprising his iconic role as Rocky in Creed, so why not?
I wonder who they’re going to cast as J.R.? Aside from that, how exactly is this going to work? I think we all know that Stallone has it in him, but what will the series be about? I’m assuming there will be some sort of crime-fighting or vigilante angle with J.R. takes the lead and Stallone’s Daddy Rambo character acts as a mentor and ride-or-die when needed. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but I just can’t see New Blood going into wild locales. Another possible angle could be cover operations in God knows where. I’m excited to see how this works. I was never a fan of the movies–I’m more of a Jean Claude Van Damme girl–but this could work, and whoever gets cast as J.R. could be made if this series takes off.
