Steven Moffat Says New Doctor Who Will Be “Terribly Rude” – GeekMundo

Well, color me surprised*!  Doctor Who season 8 (series 8 for my British peeps) won’t have any of that sexual tension Clara (Jenna Coleman) and the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith) had going on in season 7.  The 12th Doctor (Peter Capaldi) will not be doing it all for nookie.  Oh, and expect him to be rude, according to Steven Moffat in an exclusive interview with SFX Magazine.  This should come as no surprise to anyone who’s gotten familiar with Capaldi’s work over the last year.  From what I’ve seen of him on The Musketeers (another BBC joint), he’s good at playing the asshole.

“He has a tremendous ability with throwaway humor, and a lot of it is around the fact that sometimes he is terribly rude. I think kids will think he is the rude Doctor,” he said. “You might want to cuddle him, but he really will resist.”

Speaking about the new Doctor’s relationship with assistant Clara Oswald — played by Jenna Coleman — Moffat added that there would be little of the flirtatious activity of before. “From a Doctor she could sort of control because he had a crush on her, she has landed with a Doctor who barely registers at all that she is a girl,” he said.

Mercifully…  Don’t forget to check out the Doctor Who Facebook page for details on all the Whovian events going down for the season 8 premiere.
