Yes, The Woods (Lionsgate) isn’t particularly original in the sense that it features a group of teens or college-aged boys and girls with terrible judgment getting dragged by something supernatural in the woods. Yet, I still looked on with horror at the little glimpses of gore that the first official trailer, which dropped today, afforded with piqued interest.
Here’s the official trailer:
You might be familiar with director Adam Wingard, the man behind You’re Next (2011) and The Guest (2014), which were both thrillers. I’m assuming that there is a supernatural element in The Woods but the trailer is kind of vague. And there isn’t a lot out there on this film. I guess it’s supposed to be a secret.
The Woods stars James Allen McCune, Brandon Scott, Valorie Curry, Callie Hernandez, Wes Robinson, and Corbin Reid. Look for it in theaters on September 16, 2016.
