Trailer: Inferno Starring Tom Hanks, Plus First Poster

The first official trailer for Sony Pictures’ Inferno movie, coming to theaters in October, has dropped and just like with previous Dan Brown novels adapted to the big screen Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) must do his part to save the world from insane megalomaniacs.  The trailer is pretty good, but it doesn’t show anything revolutionary.  If you’ve seen Angels and Demons or The Da Vinci Code, then you’ll know what to expect.  There is one scene with what seems like a river of blood busting through the doors of what looks like a museum a la The Shining that caught my attention, however.

Synopsis:

Academy Award® winner Ron Howard returns to direct the latest bestseller in Dan Brown’s (Da Vinci Code) billion-dollar Robert Langdon series, Inferno, which finds the famous symbologist (again played by Tom Hanks) on a trail of clues tied to the great Dante himself. When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to foil a deadly global plot.

I started reading Inferno a few years back but put it down and never picked it back up again.  I have every intention of finishing it, but it’s not a priority.  It’s slower than The Da Vinci Code and a little redundant.  To be honest, I’m a little disappointed that The Lost Symbol wasn’t brought to screen first.  It’s one of Brown’s best novels to date and quite frankly I think it’s the most poignant.  Unfortunately, Sony scrapped or postponed plans to bring it to theaters and went with Inferno instead.  I’ll still go see this though.  I live for conspiracy thrillers.
