The successful ‘Other Guys‘ duo of Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg will reunite for Rob Riggle’s new comedy series for HBO. The series will be based on the exploits of a Wall Street blowhard with serious issues. Rob Riggle will also star, in addition to producing duties. More details after the jump!
The pay cable network is developing a comedy project forRob Riggle to star and produce. The single-camera comedy, based on an idea by Riggle, is being written by Adam McKay and Chris Henchy. Set in the world of bond traders in 1980s Wall Street, it revolves around a successful, hard-living boss (Riggle) who lives a dark, self-centered, unhealthy life. McKay and Henchy are executive producing with their Gary Sanchez Prods partner Will Ferrell as well as Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, Peter Principato and Paul Young. The project, which stems from Riggle’s development deal with HBO, reunites three of the stars of The Other Guys – Ferrell, Walhberg and Riggle — with the film’s writers McKay and Henchy.
This will be a winner. I can feel it. Rob Riggle is immensely hilarious, and when he teams up with Will Ferrell in any capacity (‘Stepbrothers’ FTW!) it’s freaking gold. I’m excited for this. Mark Wahlberg doesn’t seem to have a funny bone in his body, but he was hilarious in ‘The Other Guys‘. What do you think? Will this be another winner for HBO?
