GeekMundo Exclusive: Tony Akins on Manifest Destiny Interview

via Kleinletters.com via Image Comics

When I interviewed Tony Akins last month at Emerald City Comicon, I had so much fun, I don’t think that a transcription would do this interview justice.  So, as we get ready to revamp and relaunch our Fun Times Podcast, I figured what better way than to include one of our three exclusive interviews from ECCC?

In the interview, Akins talks about Image Comics’ highly underpraised and criminally underrated Manifest Destiny comic, what a potential TV or film adaptation would look like, the process of working on a series for DC Comics versus the process at Image Comics, and how and when his Caribbean ancestry plays a role in the comics he’s working on.  We also talk Wonder Woman, Papa Midnite and the Hellblazer.

Listen, if you aren’t reading Manifest Destiny, you are missing out.  It is one of the best comics out via Image right now, and in my opinion, it has the same depth and beauty that Brian K. Vaughn and Fiona Staples’ Saga comic is blessed with.
